West Texas Newborn Session

Little nose, tiny toes… Sessions like this West Texas newborn session have a special place in my heart!

Newborn sessions are quite a different game than any other session. They certainly take a lot more patience and if you add in a toddler, that adds another aspect as well. But they are so worth it!

Lisa decided to do the session in the comfort of their own home, and they turned out so well! We started the session with some of just baby Henry, then moved on to the whole family. Big brother wasn’t so sure about the session, but despite his energy (why do I have to sit still for so long?), he did a great job! With newborn sessions, you pivot whenever you need to. If the baby gets fussy, you take a break and feed him if he needs it. Toddler isn’t wanting to sit still? Then you move on to doing some of just baby.

We chose to do the session in two locations in their home: first in the living room, then in the bedroom. I have to say that the bedroom was my favorite area of the house, but they all turned out amazing!

I have so many favorites from this session, but I think one of my favorite shots was the one where we put baby Henry into a cowboy hat. He looks like he’s sleeping so peacefully there. (Don’t worry, Mommy’s hand was right there. I just edited it out, so it looks like he’s balancing by himself.) Then of course, it’s not a newborn session if you don’t get some detail shots of hands, feet, ears, etc.

So many precious memories. Newborn sessions are so special because these newborn moments are so short, and pictures help you capture them, so you can look back on them forever!
