I am always excited when I can shoot in an area where I don’t often shoot, so I would excited when the Thiessen family decided to do their session in Lubbock. You don’t want to miss this family session.
Sometimes a session doesn’t go quite like you planned… This session was one of those. We had planned to use a different location for the session, but we weren’t able to use that location after all. And since it was last minute, I wasn’t able to scout out the location ahead of time. I had a session at the Texas Tech Horticulture Gardens last year during the summer. It was so pretty and green. I knew it wasn’t going to be quite as green, but when we pulled up, my heart dropped a bit. It wasn’t nearly as green as I was hoping it was going to be. But it’s my job as the photographer to make sure the pictures turn out beautifully even if the location isn’t quite what we were hoping it would be. I looked around a bit to find the best places to take pictures, and found some beautiful places.
This was a small extended family session. For an extended family session, I always like to start with a big group shot, then branch off into different combinations. For this session, since it was a smaller family, we were able to get several different backgrounds and combinations. I loved how the pictures turned out!
The Thiessen family was so much fun to work with! I am thankful they trusted me with their pictures!
