Downtown Midland Valentine Photo Shoot

They say that sisters make the best friends in the world, and I couldn’t agree more! As sisters, Megan, Hannah, and I don’t always get along. We still argue over whose turn it is to do the dishes sometimes, and we don’t always have the best communication. But over the years we’ve become great friends. We have a lot in common. We’re all teachers. We love hanging out at coffee shops. We read. A lot. I’ve gotten comments from others saying they wish they could have as good a relationship with their siblings as we do, but something we’ve realized is that friendship is a choice. To be good friends with your siblings, you have to choose to put aside your differences, talk when you don’t feel like it, and choose to do things together. That’s what we’ve chosen to do. It hasn’t always been easy. At times, we have allowed walls to come up between us and we’ve had to work through them. But we’ve made it, and I can’t imagine not having the great friendship I have with both of my sisters!

So, when one of the girls suggested that we do a sisters photo shoot for Valentines, I was all for it. I mean, who says Valentines has to only be for couples?

The day of our shoot was cold, boy, it was cold! The wind had a bite to it. But it was definitely worth it! We drove into downtown Midland with no specific destination in mind, just knowing that we wanted some a neat background.

First, we came to Centennial Park where they had some string lights, and then we wandered the streets around there taking pictures in front of the pretty storefronts.

We changed at a random convenient store, and headed to a different location, which ended up being my favorite! I think it was an attorney’s office, or something like that, but it was a pretty building with a nice colored door.

We only got one group picture because we didn’t have anyone with to take the picture. We had to get a little creative to do it. I backed up my car so that we could use the trunk as a stand, since I don’t have a tripod. I have never used the timer, so I had to google how to turn it on. Then when I got it on, I ran to where the girls were sitting and posed, only to realize I had forgotten to take my jacket off! Take two went much better, and we really liked the group shot that we got!

Megan and Hannah, I love being able to take random adventures like this with you, laugh together, and just be together even when we don’t talk! Thanks for always being willing to model for me, and thanks for being my friends!
