Beautiful white snow. A beautiful couple. Contagious joy. What more could a photographer ask for?
Yes, it was definitely cold. After a while into the shoot, my fingers weren’t wanting to press the shutter anymore. At that point, we climbed into the truck to warm up a bit and just visited while we sat there.
This isn’t the first time we’ve done something like this. I grew up going to school with both Henry and Susana, but it wasn’t until we were older that we really became friends. We hung around a lot of the same people, and, once I got over the fact that you could hang out with people who were in a grade below you and with guys, we became friends.
Susana and I started teaching school the same year, and we became even closer through that. Believe me, we have had so many different conversations about school, life, faith, etc.
When Susana and Henry got engaged, I was so happy for them; but I was even more excited that they asked me to take their engagement pictures! I was barely starting out at the time, but I was able to deliver a gallery of images I was proud of.
This snowy anniversary shoot is two years later. Some things were very similar. It was just as fun working with them this time as it was on their engagement session. Both of the sessions were very cold, though their engagement session didn’t have any snow, and we spent some time in between pictures warming up in our running vehicles.
Some things are different. I am a lot more confident with my photography than I was then. I’ve grown a lot. I also wasn’t needing to delete pictures every so often because my SD card was full. (That was not fun. My SD card couldn’t handle all of the images I was taking, so I had to delete in between the session. Now I have more than one card, and I don’t delete off of the card, because that’s not good for them. I know better now.)
The pictures on this snowy day were everything I was hoping they would be! They reflect who Henry and Susana are. Their love, the joy, and the beauty of their relationship. I must say, I have some of the best clients and friends!
Henry and Susana, your joy is infectious, and I love being able to visit with you, laugh with you, and on occasion, take pictures for you! May God bless you on your two year anniversary, and in the many years to come!
I love reading your blogs, Lydia, and this one was extra special!! Thank you for the sweet words and amazing work!
It was so much fun to do both photo sessions with you as well!! I look forward to more in the future. 😉
Aww, thank you Susana!
