Scrapbook Memories- What are they?

Family picture in Granbury

In our house, we have a lot of pictures. I don’t mean just a couple of them hanging on the walls here and there. I mean, a lot. We have family pictures hanging in our living room, newborn pictures in the hallway, more family pictures in the dining room. And then there’s the kitchen. It’s tradition that when friends come over, they go into our kitchen and check out our fridge and freezer, because… You guessed it. There are pictures all over. These are wedding invitations, Christmas cards, birth announcements, etc. And then, there are the scrapbooks. Mom started a scrapbook for each of us children, with pictures from when we were born to our teen years. She hasn’t always kept up with it, but once we girls got older, we started helping. Our scrapbooks are full, and getting fuller as we make more memories together as a family.

Of course, things have changed over the years. Our scrapbooking has gotten better. Pictures have gotten way better. But the thing that stayed the same is the memories. Mom has always put such a huge emphasis on preserving those memories. We love looking through the scrapbooks and reminiscing. They bring back so many memories! It’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about capturing memories now as a photographer. (If you haven’t read how I became a photographer, check it out here.) So I’m introducing a new blog post series: Scrapbook memories!

What is Scrapbook Memories?

Scrapbook memories will allow you to peak into our family life, by showing a picture or pictures of a scrapbook page and sharing the memories that come along with it. Some of them will be vacations, others simple things like snow day memories.

A couple of things to keep in mind. Some of these scrapbook pages are done by my mom, some by myself. The pictures aren’t professional. The scrapbooking is definitely not professional. (I’m not sure if there is such a thing as professional scrapbooking, but if there is, we are definitely not up to that level.) But the memories are real, the love genuine!

So I hope you enjoy! Stay tuned for the biweekly post of Scrapbook Memories!
